“Free-Furling”
Convenient and reliable “Free-Furling” allows you to quickly set or furl your jib or staysail without leaving the safety of the cockpit. The sail furls and unfurls on its own luff wire and is easily removed for use on trailerable boats or for light-air staysails and gennakers on larger boats. These lightweight swivels utilize clear anodized, marine grade aluminum and contain hi-load Amoco Torlon™ bearings to ensure smooth and reliable performance. Precision computer machined races maximize bearing contact area for ultimate strength and durability under load providing you with safe, easy furling.
Optional cam arm brackets and snap shackle adapters fit onto Schaefer System 550 and 650 furlers to make it easy to give your staysail a whirl! >>>
How Schaefer “Free-Furling” Works
When you are ready to furl, slack off the sheet to let the jib luff. While easing the sheet, pull the furling line. When you are ready to set the jib, uncleat the furling line in the cockpit and simply pull the jib sheet, trimming as you would any other jib.The jib furls and unfurls on the jib’s own built-in luff wire. It’s that easy!
“Free-Furling” Quick Fact:
High compression strength Torlon™ bearings ride in precision machined races providing low friction. Durable design resists corrosion and is easily flushed for minimal maintenance.
